  89. ===== Installation =====================================

  91. The installation procedure for FundRaiser Basic is quite simple.
  92.  
  93. FOR ALL (Hard Disk Requirements):
  94. ---------------------------------
  95.  o You will need AT LEAST 800k and preferably about 2 Mb of available
  96.    disk space on the hard drive or diskette on which you plan to install
  97.    FundRaiser Basic.  The program and empty databases take 800k, the
  98.    help files and manual about 300k.  In addition, you must have
  99.    sufficient room to record data on your donors and their donations.
  100.    Depending on how extensive your notes are, and how many donations,
  101.    you should figure about 1k for every 1 to 2 donors.
  102.  
  103.  o We do not recommend installation onto a diskette because the disk's
  104.    limited disk capacity will limit the number of donors that can be
  105.    recorded, and will result in VERY slow operation.
  106.  
  107.  o Once installed, start the program by typing FRB.
  108.  
  109.  
  110. QUICK - For those familiar with compressed files:
  111. -------------------------------------------------
  112. Just copy the files named FRB13A.EXE and FRB13B.EXE to their own
  113. directory (like C:\FRB) on your hard disk.  These files are
  114. "self-extracting" archives that contains all necessary files.  To
  115. extract the program file, just type FRB13A at the DOS prompt.  To
  116. extract the help files and manual, type FRB13B at the DOS prompt.  You
  117. may then delete FRB13A.EXE and FRB13B.EXE.
  118.  
  119. FOR NOVICES:
  120. ------------
  121. Follow the simple installation procedures below. The exact steps you
  122. need to take will depend on how you received FundRaiser Basic.
  123.  
  124. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  125.  
  126. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  127.  
  128.    1)  Place the FundRaiser Basic distribution diskette (disk #1 if you
  129.        received multiple disks) in the appropriate diskette drive.
  130.  
  131.    2)  Log on to that drive by entering:   A:  (or B: if appropriate)
  132.  
  133.    3)  Type:  INSTALL  X   where X is the drive that you want FundRaiser
  134.        Basic installed on.  For example, to install on drive C, type
  135.        INSTALL  C
  136.  
  137.    4)  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  138.        You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  139.        are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The program
  140.        will install itself into a directory named \FRB, which must NOT
  141.        yet exist, and will copy other FundRaiser Basic files to that
  142.        directory.

  145. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  146.  
  147. If you downloaded FundRaiser Basic from a BBS (or received it in the
  148. form of archive files from some other source), you will need to perform
  149. the following steps.
  150.  
  151.    1)  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  152.        directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  153.        varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  154.        In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  155.        that you have already done so.  If not, you should be able to
  156.        obtain directions for this from the same source from which you
  157.        received the package.
  158.  
  159.   2)  Choose one of the following two installation methods:
  160.       a)  Copy these files to a diskette and follow the instructions
  161.           above for installing from a floppy (preferred method for
  162.           beginners); or,
  163.  
  164.       b)  Follow these steps:
  165.           1)  Create a directory for FundRaiser Basic:
  166.               MD  \FRB
  167.           2)  Copy the FundRaiser Basic files to that directory:
  168.               COPY  *.*  \FRB
  169.           3)  Change to that directory:
